Summer Activities

Zoo Camps

Each year the Sacramento Zoo offers a variety of summer camps for students of all ages. Youth can learn about interesting creatures, but these camps aren’t limited to animals. Some of the camps offered in the past included Harry Potter and veterinarian camps.

Effie Yeaw Nature Center
(916) 489-4918

The Effie Yeaw Nature Center offers nature camps for elementary age students, but teenagers are welcome to volunteer. If you love to work with children and nature, this is the perfect location for you to spend some time.

State Fair
(916) 263-3247

In July each year, you can attend the State Fair at Cal Expo. Show off homemade recipes and arts and crafts, watch livestock competitions, catch a live concert, take a spin on the Ferris wheel, and of course, sample the food. This is a great place to hang out with friends and family.

Whether you babysit, bag groceries, or serve food, having a summer job gets you some extra cash and prevents boredom during those long, lazy summer days. Check local businesses for openings or go to the Sac Jobs website for a listing of local jobs.
